"Please note that Finland has anti doping laws already in effect, and it would be a good idea for everyone to check out the web site to acquaint themselves what is considered "doping" in dogs. I know some of us are giving dogs medication and "supplements" of all sorts. You may be surprised what is and is not allowed."
Doping includes; anti-inflammatory medication, sedatives, tranquilizers, performance enhancing drugs, pain medication, growth hormones, blood transfusions and any colour or coat enhancers. Anything that improves, reduces or maintains the dogs performance artificially.
Washout periods; there are specific days a dog has to be clean of the medication before the competition. Example: Metacam must not be given 28 day before the competition.
Concerning cropping and docking and WC 2008 in Finland. Cropping and docking in Finland is not allowed, but competitors are allowed to participate in the World Dog Shows and the Agility World Championships with cropped/docked dogs.
